Shizue, a good friend of mine and ex-colleague from Planet ad, told me I should probably meet her dad whom is a survivor of NPC cancer. At first, I'm reluctant but after a while, it seems like a good idea to hear from his experience. We met in Serangoon Nex, near where her parents live.
We have a gastronomical Thai dinner, Thailand I miss you! Later, her parents join us at the table, where he told me about his experience, seriously, I applaud him, knowing he was diagnosed at the age of 65, also the side effects he had to undergo at his old age. I know I have the strength to carry on knowing he is a role model for me to live up to.
I'm relived and yet worried at the same time, relived knowing he is still alive, strong and just returned from Japan. worried as the side effect of not able to swallow food during the radiotherapy, altered taste and smell that will last for the next few years, dry throat and sore mouth that won't allow me to sing again.
He recommend post radiotherapy and chemo healing treatment from Buddhist free clinic, whom specializes in Chinese medicine and treating cancer patient. Also, constant spray of water or serum from preventing dry throat. Yes, a sprayed bottle which Melissa whom I met last week has given me. Ricola, apple and mint sweet is good for soothing the throat as well.
No matter what, there is no way to back out but to keep moving forward to be cured.
I'm not afraid of what I'll face
But I'm afraid to stay and dwell in this illness
I'm going down the road to recovery and
I can work and fight till I find my pink of health
